Soybean Research and Promotion Council

Authorization: Chapter 38-29 of the South Dakota Codified Laws (SDCL 38-29)

Activities : Provide for the discovery, promotion, development and expansion of domestic and export markets and industries and for research, education and transportation; and formulate policies and programs regarding the discovery, promotion and development of markets and industries for the use of soybeans grown within the state.


Composition: At least five but no more than nine members who shall be participating growers. Initial members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture, subsequent members shall be elected by the participating growers. Vacancies are filled by appointment by the Secretary of Agriculture.

The Secretary of Agriculture is an ex-officio, nonvoting member.

Term of Appointment: Three years.
