The South Dakota Arborists Association (SDArA) is an organization of arborists and other tree care professionals that strive to promote and educate the people of South Dakota on the proper ways of tree care and maintenance issues of trees.
The SDArA also provides the arborists certification program within the state of South Dakota. This program gives interested and qualified professionals of South Dakota an opportunity to become a certified arborist. Certified arborists have proven they have the knowledge to properly care for and maintain the trees of South Dakota.
To become a South Dakota certified Arborist, one has to pass the certification exam with a score of at least 80%. To be eligible to take the exam you must have a minimum of 36 months experience as a practicing arborist or 18 months experience and a degree in arboriculture or related field. Certification must be renewed every three years by attending three full days of workshops related to the arboriculture field.
